I am not much of a sports fan....but I do feel like I have a smidgen of a clue about the performance of our Canadian teams. Am I wrong in thinking that typically....we do not do well?
Hockey.....ha!!!! I am sure that I am in the know about this. This is a hit or miss.....but bottom line....haven't won the cup in ages.
Football....ha! Don't recall ever hearing that we get even remotely close to the end there.
Basketball...hmmm!! Don't know anything about this really....but....seeing as we lost last night....and hearing that every other team is a rockstar...I feel it safe to assume....that the Raptors...not so hot!
Soccer....lol!! I don't even have anything to say to this. I have to give some kudos to the team though...valiant effort.
Baseball...lmao!!!! What can I say about the Jays?!!!! I have been to a few games....and aside from being sort of utterly bored....we don't ever do well with this sport.
I am not going to list off every sport.....just the majors. I wonder....is it because we have a complex about being Canadian? Can anyone shed some light on this? I am sort of fascinated!!!
I did have an amazing time last night at the Raptors game. I did cheer with gusto. I loved the energy that was at the ACC. If for no other reason....I would keep going to these events because they are simply....FUN!!!

So Paula I find this interesting however I would like to clarify or rather narrow down the questions. Many Canadian teams are quite successful, for instance in football ever year a Canadian team wins the Grey cup...I will just add a little wink here ;).
In hockey our Canadian teams do quite well however bringing home the Stanley cup has not happened recently.
Basketball..I know only from the facebook wall posts I read that the players are selfish or something and that in general this sport is not as popular or well funded as our southern neighbors.
Soccer..I still find it hard to believe there are professional teams in Canada, however from my close friends it is more the ambiance and atmosphere of going to a game and chanting then who wins...
Sorry I have gone a bit off topic, as I wanted to narrow down from your original question. Our complex is not of being Canadian but of being Torontonian, where none of the Toronto sports teams are successful. With seemingly unlimited funds and resources as Canada's "power" city we cannot seem to find a balance between talent and money in our sports organizations.
As a leafs fan I feel continually let down about our teams performance, I stay up until 3am here in Amsterdam to watch the few games that come overseas only to be let down. So yes I think as Torontonians we have a complex that we are the "best" city in Canada, we should have the best teams right?
I think many of us remember years of before as children when we won the World Series back to back and shouting Moooooookie in the stands...When the leafs made the playoffs almost every year, when the Argo's were #1 with Pinball Clemens and Rocket Ishmail.
Of course my recollection of the past is fuzzy at best, and i am sure not completely accurate for those that read my response, but I think this may be one of the contributing factors to our complex. Our teams, our Toronto teams should win everything, because from our childhood we only remember our teams as being #1...
